HxBIA's Vandalism Grant Program

Are you a Hastings Crossings Business Improvement Association Member?  Then If your business or property is damaged intentionally or accidentally through a break-in, or other vandalism, we may be able to provide some relief through this fund.  

• This grant provides up to 50% of damages up to a maximum of $750.00 for vandalism-related costs. Examples of damages include broken windows, broken doors, broken locks, etching on windows, and more. 
• Please note: Graffiti is not covered.   Please contact us directly so we can arrange  with our inhouse services to look after graffiti incidents.
  

Certain terms and conditions apply:

• Nonprofits are eligible to apply
• Business must be operating out of a commercial storefront with street frontage
• The form below must be completed with as much detail as possible
• Compensation is limited to $750.00 per instance
• We cannot provide compensation to any business more than twice in a calendar year
• Damage must have occurred on or after January 1st, 2023
• Provide proof of damage
• Business must be a current member of HxBIA with a storefront within the HxBIA catchment area.
• You must file a police report for the incident. You can call the non-emergency number at 604-717-3321 to do this, even if the incident occurred in the past. Filing a police report helps to provide much needed statistics for crime and improved response in our area.

Step 1. Gather proof of damage

The form will ask you to upload documents showing proof of damage.

Step 2. Apply

We will ask you questions about the business owner and the business along with relevant information of the incident leading to this claim.  We ask you to be as detailed and accurate as possible in your information.

You will upload your proof of damage.

The entire application will take about 15 minutes if you have all the required information.

More about the HxBIA Storefront Vandalism Relief Grant

The Storefront Vandalism Relief Grant is currently funded by donations from the movie industry when filming in our BIA. On average we receive approximately $7-10,000  per year for this purpose.

Based on the above we are  currently providing up to 50% per cent of the claim (to a maximum of  $750.00) in financial relief for the restoration of small businesses impacted by deliberate actions that result in the destruction or damages of small business storefronts. 

This program assists based on the total cost incurred to repair physical damages (not including loss of stolen goods or property) and is available on a first come-first-serve basis, based on fund availability.

In the case of multiple incidents, a maximum of two claims will be accepted within a one-year period. 

Successful applicants will be notified within 14 days of applying.
